Chelsea and Liverpool strive to sign Frankfurt striker Ekitic this summer

According to multiple media reports, Chelsea and Liverpool may compete for Frankfurt striker Hugo Ekitic this summer. The Frenchman is in the best form at the Bundesliga club this season, contributing 22 goals and 12 assists in 48 games.

Ekitic's efforts have won him admirers in Liverpool, according to journalist Sasha Tavolieri (via Football 365). Due to Nunez's injuries, the Reds are looking for a new No. 9. The Uruguayan is expected to leave this summer and the club in Mersey is reportedly looking to Alexander Isak to take his place. However, it is unlikely that the Swedes will leave St James Park after Newcastle qualifying.

This situation forces Liverpool to find alternatives, and they have identified Ekitic as an option. If Nunes goes to Saudi Arabia or Spain, the Red Army hopes to get the French.

However, according to reporter Miguel Delaney (via Chelsea News), Chelsea is also in the process of wanting Ekitic. The Blues have a crush on Liam Drapp of Ipswich town, but he may go to Manchester United.

The London giants now use Ekitic as a backup plan to solve their forward puzzles. Although his net worth may be a problem, Chelsea has not shy away from spending all their money on young talents in recent years.

The 22-year-old was originally loaned to Frankfurt from Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) in January 2024 and did not officially transfer until April this year. His contract with Wald Stadium expires in 2029 and is reportedly worth 100 million euros. Will Chelsea compete with Liverpool for Pedro?

According to journalist Ben Jacob, Liverpool is eager to get Brighton Hof forward Joao Pedro this summer. The Daily Mail reported last week that Chelsea was also interested in the Brazilian and even held talks with the Seagulls on the transfer.

João Pedro has contributed 10 goals and 7 assists in 30 games this season, and his contract expires in 2028. The Reds are planning to step up their offense after losing the Champions League trophy this season.

The Merseyside club is considering multiple candidates, and Brazilians are reportedly on their shortlist. Brighton's asking price is said to exceed the £30 million they paid for him, which should not be a problem for Liverpool. Interestingly, Jacobs added that Chelsea is not interested in the 23-year-old at the moment, despite Newcastle United's competition.
