Sky: Newcastle activates Pope s contract extension clause, extending contract until 2027
On October 21, Sky Sports reported that Newcastle activated the extension clause of Pope’s contract. Newcastle goalkeeper Nick Pope confirmed that the club has triggered the one-year extension option in his current contract. According to Sky Sports News, this clause was activated at the beginning of October, which means that he will play at St James' Park until 2027. The 33-year-old goalkeeper has performed well this season and as a reward for helping the team qualify for the Champions League, he accepted this extension option. Before Tuesday's Champions League game against Benfica, Pope was asked about his feelings about extending his contract and said: "My contract will expire in 2027 and I look forward to playing here as long as possible."
