Official: Tottenham signs new long-term contract with Bentancur

According to official news from Tottenham Hotspur, the club signed a new long-term contract with Bentancur, and the club did not disclose the new contract period.

Since joining from Juventus in January 2022, the 28-year-old Bentancur has made 122 appearances for Tottenham and scored 9 goals.

After joining Tottenham, Bentancur immediately had an impact in the second half of the 2021-22 season and started 16 games in the final 18 games that ensured Tottenham's return to the Champions League.

He scored consecutive goals early in the following season, but unfortunately his first full season at Tottenham was interrupted prematurely due to an ACL injury in January 2023, which left him unable to play most of the year.

Bentankur has become an integral part of the club's UEFA Europa League journey this year, making 13 appearances in 15 games of the event, including playing for 90 minutes in the final in Bilbao.

In the international arena, Bentankur has played 72 times for the Uruguay national team, scored 3 goals, and has represented the motherland in the World Cup twice.
