Comoli takes office! Masala acts as assistant? Osmain is stranded, Juventus turns to three other strikers
Juventus Club officially announced on its official website that it welcomes the arrival of Damien Comoli. The Frenchman will join the club as general manager from June 4, 2025 and report directly to CEO Maurizio Scanavino. Comoli is a leader with extensive international football experience and has worked at the highest level in European football for more than 30 years. He has held key positions at famous clubs such as Arsenal, Tottenham, Liverpool, Fenerbahce and recently Toulouse, leading the club to Ligue 1 and winning the French Cup. Comoli will be responsible for the work in the men's football field and in the marketing and business sectors, and the club's legend George Chiellini will report to him as the director of football strategy and will play a key role in reflecting Juventus' values and spirit. Comoli said: "I am delighted and honored to join a club known for history, identity and ambitious vision. From day one, I will devote my experience to Juventus, with the ultimate goal of winning - as Juventus hopes, and as our fans expect." { Comoli grew up at the Monaco Football Youth Training Academy and then accepted the job of the club's U16 team coaching staff. Later, he completed his law degree and obtained his coaching qualification certificate in the late 1990s. While Wenger coaching, Comolly began to be reused in Monaco, then followed Wenger to work for England club Arsenal, where he moved to the Arsenal in 1996 and worked as a European scout for seven seasons at the Gunners. While Comoli worked at Arsenal, the Gunners' first team won three Premier League titles, including the famous unbeaten season in 2003-04, a record that no one can match. During his time at Arsenal, Comoly brought players such as Kloe Toure, Ebue and Krish to the Premier League. However, Comoli's signings in the Premier League are more than that. In 2008, while serving as football director at Tottenham, he also actively participated in the transfer to bring future Golden Globe winner Modric to White Hart Lane. He has also participated in the signing of Berbatov, Bentley, Osu-Ekoto and numerous players. Since 2010, Comoli has served as Liverpool's football strategy director, and is believed to be the one who brought Uruguayan strikers Suarez and Carol to Anfield on the last day of the January 2011 transfer window. Between Tottenham and Liverpool, Comolly also served as Saint-Etienne's sporting director, but after a series of unsuccessful signings, he received considerable criticism, which led to the club's financial difficulties. In addition to a brief stint at Galatasaray, Comoli was unemployed at home for a long time after working at Liverpool, and was appointed director of football in Toulouse and served as president of the French club until last week. After advancing to Ligue 1 in 2021-2022, Toulouse also won the French Cup in 2023, thus gaining a place in the UEFA Europa League in 2023-24. According to multiple Italian media reports, legendary statistician and former Moneyball creator Billy Bien is the one who recommended Comoli to join the Toulouse ownership group Red Bird, and Red Bird is also the owner of AC Milan. However, despite reports last year that Comoli will switch to Milan, the 55-year-old Frenchman recently resigned from his position as Toulouse and accepted the position of general manager of Juventus. Italian media believe that Genetoli is about to leave Juventus, which means that the Zebras are no longer expected to reach a deal with Napoli striker Victor Osmeen in the summer transfer window. Osmayen has made a deep impression at Galatasaray this season, but is expected to be listed for sale by Naples in the summer window. His contract has a 75 million euro termination clause, but that clause is only valid for teams outside Serie A this summer. Although the Zebras cannot trigger the termination clause in Osmaine's contract with Naples, they are still keen to reach an agreement with the Serie A champion. Before he was Juventus' sports director, Genetoli worked in Naples, and it was he who brought the Nigerian star from Ligue 1 to Serie A. Juventus is preparing to make an offer to Naples in early July, but the other party has been insisting that they do not want to negotiate with the league's direct competitors. However, with Gene Toli now leaving the club, Juventus is not expecting to seek to sign the Nigerian international this summer. This makes Osmayen need to revisit his next stop, including Saudi side Riyadh Crescent, who are ready to offer a lucrative contract to attract the Nigerian international to the Middle East. Meanwhile, Riyadh Crescent is interested in some Serie A coaches who are about to enter the summer transfer window, including Inter Milan coach Inzaghi Jr. and AC Milan left-back Teo Hernandez. The Milan Sports reported that as Osmain gradually faded out of sight, Juventus turned his attention to three other forwards: Hoylund, Retge and Dzekelish. Zebras' management restructuring will have a direct impact on the club's transfer plan. Gene Toli, who is eager to work with the Nigerian center, is expected to leave the Turin giants, and Osmain is no longer a priority target. On the other hand, Juventus is preparing to welcome Comoli, who will serve as general manager. The Frenchman needed to take over Genetoli's work and deal with Vlahovic's problems. If the contract is not renewed with Fra's salary cut, the club will sell him while looking for a new striker. As mentioned above, signing Osmeon is no longer Juventus' agenda, because they realize it is difficult to convince Naples president De Laurentis to sell him to themselves. Therefore, Juventus' new director will turn to target more suitable candidates, and Sporting Milan has listed three potential solutions. The first choice is Hoylund, who lost his way at Manchester United, but the Danish international showed great potential in Atlanta in the 2022/23 season. Instead, the second goal, Retgee, has been awesome in Atlanta this season, winning the Serie A best scorer award. However, the most amazing striker in Europe this season is Dzekelish, who scored an astonishing 45 goals, and the Swedes happens to be the third name on the shortlist. In addition, we can expect other names to be added to Juventus' signing list, especially the club may need more than one new center as Muani and Milik may also leave. The Milan Sports Daily reported that 56-year-old former AC Milan director Ricky Masala is likely to join Juventus management and become a right-hand assistant to the new general manager Comoli, supporting the work of his sports department. The Zebras' management faced a major turmoil this summer, and after a disappointing season, sports director Gene Toli is expected to leave Turin City. However, another director of revenue generation and football development, Calvo, will also leave. On the other hand, Comolli has resigned as chairman of Toulouse and is expected to be appointed as general manager of Juventus on Monday. The Frenchman will be given great power, so he may need a right-hand man to help him run the football department, similar to the partnership between Marotta and Paratic back then. According to the newspaper "Milan Sports", Juventus has determined that Masala is the right candidate for this job. Masala worked in Rome for a long time between 2011 and 2019, and then served as Director of AC Milan Sports and served as Paul Martini's right-hand assistant. The pair reorganized the Ross and Blacks and won the Serie A championship in the 2021/22 season, but he was swept out by the Red Birds a year later. Masala later held a similar role in Rennes, but recently went part way with the Ligue 1 club. Therefore, it remains to be seen whether the experienced supervisor will return to Italian football through the gates of the Zebra Legion. It should also be noted that after two years in Granada, Juventus' former chief scout, Matteo Tognozi, will also return to the Turin giants, with some sources claiming that he will play a more important role in the club, so he is also a candidate for the position of sporting director. The Milan Sports reported that 25-year-old Serbian striker Vlahovic was close to leaving Juventus and currently has three teams interested in him, including Newcastle. Frahovic transferred from Florence to the Zebras for a net worth of up to 80 million euros in January 2022. Although there are occasional highlights, the center still cannot prove that Juventus paid for it is reasonable. Therefore, Juventus will not miss the opportunity to sell him this summer, especially with Toussan's contract due in 12 months. According to the Milan Sports newspaper, this is one of the main issues for the incoming Juventus director Damien Comoli to take over from the outgoing Gene Toli. Sources revealed that Juventus' new general manager is expected to do the same, and Comoli will explore the possibility of extending the contract so that the club can partially spread the cost. Nevertheless, Vlahovic and his representatives have rejected the offer, so the sports daily believes that the possibility of Tusan leaving in the summer is still high. Mite also pointed out that Vlahovic currently has three suitors. Newcastle's transfer with Vlahovic has been rumored for a long time, and the Magpies have been tracking his teammate Douglas Luis. The Brazilian midfielder's first season in the Turin giants is disappointing and may also leave the team in the summer. Sources believe that if Newcastle wants to sign Vlahovic, it will face fierce competition from Turkey. With Osmeen's loan expiration, Galatasaray will seek to add a new shooter to their front line, as does Fenerbahce who lost Dzeko.
