Westbrook had 12 points, 4 assists and 3 steals, leading the pack in plus-minus! The Kings suffered a 3-game losing streak, and it’s time for the Big Four to break up
The NBA regular season continues, with the Sacramento Kings going away to challenge the Chicago Bulls. The Bulls have won three consecutive games since the start of the season and are one of the only four undefeated teams in the league. The other three are the Thunder, Spurs and 76ers. On the other hand, the Kings have lost 3 of their first 4 games. No matter whether the opponent is strong or weak, they are not sure of winning. They are a typical "offensive strong and defensive weak" type pseudo-strong team. In this game, the Bulls' starting five are Kiddy + Jones + Vucevic + Buzeris + Okoro, and the Kings' starting five are LaVine + Schroeder + Sabonis Jr. + DeRozan + Westbrook. When the game came on, the two teams fell into a tug-of-war early on, and the score was tight. Buzeris scored 11 points in a row to break the deadlock, and the Bulls took a double-digit lead in one fell swoop. During the rotation period, the Kings launched a counterattack, especially in the second quarter. The Kings strengthened their impact on the inside and directly overtook the score, once leading by 12 points. However, after the main force of the Bulls returned, they frantically chased points. The Kings only led by 2 points at halftime. After changing sides and fighting again, the Bulls increased their offensive and defensive intensity, scoring 39 points in a single quarter and regaining the lead. The Kings were unable to chase points, but in the final decisive battle, the Bulls became more and more courageous. The point difference went straight to 20+, and the Kings had no choice but to surrender in advance. In the end, the Kings lost to the Bulls 113-126, suffering a three-game losing streak. From falling behind by 12 points in the first quarter to leading by 12 points in the second quarter, from falling behind by up to 17 points in the second half to suffering a 13-point defeat, this is the epitome of the Kings' game in the new season: they can deal with any opponent, but they lack the ability and stability to harvest the game. If we want to trace the origin, the key is that the team's lineup is deformed, and the chaos on the offensive end is not enough to make up for the shortcomings on the defensive end! On the bright side, the Kings are really good at speeding up the fight, outscoring the Bulls 27-14 on the fast break, and outscoring the Bulls 22-12 by using turnovers. But the problem is that the Kings lost 16 rebounds 30-46, lost 8 offensive rebounds 4-12, and lost 10 points in the paint 60-70. More importantly, the Kings really couldn't make any shots. The team made only 7 of 28 shots from beyond the three-point line, with a shooting percentage of only 25%. On the other hand, the Bulls made 14 of 32 shots from beyond the three-point line, with a shooting percentage of 43.8%. The three-point production and efficiency were nearly twice that of the Kings! The Kings have no choice but to lose defense inside and outside. This can be seen from the fact that the Kings coach asked Westbrook to play the starting power forward. There is really no way! Westbrook also lived up to the coach's trust. He started for 28 minutes, made 4 of 9 shots (1 of 4 three-pointers), 3 of 4 free throws, and contributed 12 points + 2 rebounds + 4 assists + 3 steals. The plus-minus value on the field was -3. I don't deny that Westbrook's mid-range shots are still dependent on the weather, but Westbrook's fighting spirit is the best in the Kings. It's just that his teammates wasted too many passes sent by Westbrook, and the momentum of chasing points came to an abrupt end many times. He was determined to kill the enemy but was unable to recover. After burning himself, he can leave with his head held high. Although Westbrook's plus-minus is negative, he is still ahead of the other starting four - Schroder made 2 of 9 and only scored 5 points, with a plus-minus of -20; LaVine scored 30 points + 3 rebounds + 3 assists, a plus-minus value of -23; Savoy contributed 18 points + 11 rebounds + 6 assists, a plus-minus value of -21; DeRozan scored 19 points + 5 rebounds + 5 assists, a plus-minus value of -21! Whether it's LaVine DeRozan or Sasha and Black, they are all good attackers, but playing together is really a kind of torture. Saad DeRozan can't open up space, and one ball is not enough to score points! In a sense, the Bulls did not have a successful path at the beginning, and the Kings wanted to try, but facts proved: this path really did not work, and it was time for the Big Four to be dismantled!
