The three-point shooting rate is too high. Is Rocket League’s No. 1 offense an illusion?

The Rockets currently score 123.2 points per 100 possessions, beating the Nuggets (121.2 points) and 76ers (121.1) to rank first in the league. They played the most efficient offense of the season in defeating the Nets and Raptors. They scored 137 points in only 92 possessions against the Nets, which is tied for the fifth most efficient offense in the past 30 years when possession data is available.

But part of the Rockets' offense may not be sustainable: the team's current three-point shooting percentage is as high as 45.4%, which is a new NBA record (if it can be maintained until the end of the season). Tari Eason, Elperon Shenking, and Josh Okogie combined to make 30 of 55 three-pointers, with a shooting percentage of 54.5%. Before this season, the three of them had a career three-point shooting percentage of only 30.4%. However, the Rockets do not rely heavily on three-pointers. They use the twin-tower tactics extensively and only account for 35.4% of their three-point shots, ranking 28th in the league.
