The Mavericks released the team's season roster in September this year. Davis weighed 268 pounds (approximately 122 kilograms) when he reported for training camp, which was 15 pounds (approximately 6.8 kilograms) more than when he played for the Lakers last season.

Sources stated that many teams are interested in trading for Davis, but they all believe that Davis needs to lose weight so that he can regain his previous movement speed and become a more mobile threat.

Since being traded to the Mavericks last season, Davis has only played in 14 games.
