US media: NHL Hurricanes owner Tom Dungton has reached a preliminary agreement on the acquisition of Trail Blazers

August 13, according to US media Sportico, the owner of the NHL Carolina Hurricanes, Tom Dungton, has reached a preliminary agreement with the management of Paul Allen's estate to acquire the Portland Trail Blazers.

It is reported that other members of the acquisition of the Trail Blazers Consortium are: Mark Zal, co-president of Blue Owl Capital, and Sher Taylor, co-CEO of Collective Global. The new consortium plans to keep the Trail Blazers in Portland.

It is currently unknown how the valuation of this transaction is. US media Sportico valued the Trail Blazers at US$3.6 billion. In 2018, Tom Dunton acquired the NHL's Karolina Hurricanes for $425 million.
