Source: The new owner of the Trail Blazers once wanted to trade for Doncic, but I don t know why the Lakers chose the latter

August 21, TheAthletic reporter Jason Quick posted a post today about the new owner of the Trail Blazers (see the end of the article). He said that this person was once very interested in Doncic. The NHL Hurricanes owner acquired the Trail Blazers for a valuation of more than 4 billion this month.

League source said of Dunton: "He is a very confident man. If Dunton was the team owner last year, he would definitely sign Luca. He would say 'Why did the Lakers sign him?'"

In a three-party deal this February, Dong Cic came to the Lakers from the Mavericks.

"He is a winner, outspoken, always rolling up his sleeves to work. He has started talking about basketball and has learned about the salaries of all the players and staff. He really put a lot of energy into the players - he said you can't compromise on personnel composition," the source said.
