Maresca: Chelsea s top priority in summer window is a new central defender, see if you can buy it

Hupu, August 9th, Chelsea coach Maresca was interviewed by BBCSport after defeating Leverkusen 2-0.

"Central defender position is a top priority at the moment because Colville is an excellent player. We attribute all the achievements we achieved last season. He played all the games with me, I love him, and we will miss him." Before the game, Maresca explained that Colville's forced absence affected his plans.

"His injury changed our preparations, which was crucial to the way we wanted to play, and his injury had a great impact on us."

Colville played for Chelsea almost throughout last year, starting 35 Premier League games and establishing a good relationship with several different partners. He found his best form at Chelsea and brought it to the Club World Cup, but ended with injury at the end of his first training game after Monday's offseason.

"I'm very happy with the team's performance, especially since we've only been training together for three or four days.

We don't have time to play the preseason. We have another game on Sunday. My priority is to bring in a new central defender. We'll see if we can win."
