Manchester City officially announced the erecting of a statue for De Bruyne + a lifetime ticket. Ding Ding: I m here forever
On May 21, Manchester City officially confirmed that a statue will be erected outside the Etihad Stadium for legendary star De Bruyne. In addition, De Bruyne has also received a special commemorative jersey signed by all teammates and staff, as well as a Manchester City lifelong season ticket.
Manchester City officially confirmed that the club will commend Kevin De Bruyne for his outstanding contributions to the club for ten years, commemorating the midfield star's brilliant career at Etihad.
The news was announced immediately after the 37th round of the Premier League against Bournemouth in the 2024-25 season. This game is also the last appearance of the 33-year-old player at the Etihad Stadium for Manchester City.
During the decade of playing at Manchester City, De Bruyne has made more than 400 appearances, helping the team win 19 major trophies, and this time full of honor is about to come to an end this summer.
In the warm atmosphere of the Etihad Stadium, fans paid deep tribute to one of the greatest players in the club's history before, during and after the game.
De Bruyne said in an interview after the game: "This means I will always be part of this club. Whenever I come back here with my family and friends, I can see my own statues, and I will stay here forever." In 2021, Manchester City unveiled two statues for former captain Kompany and midfielder David Silva outside the Etihad Stadium in recognition of their decisive contributions to Manchester City's rise over the past decade.
Then in 2022, the club erected another statue for Aguero to commemorate his famous "93 minutes and 20 seconds" goal - a goal that helped Manchester City win the first Premier League championship in club history in 2012.
In 2023, Manchester City further recognized the club's long history, erecting the latest statues for the legendary trio Mike Sammoby, Francis Lee and Colin Bale, commending their 30 years of service to the club since the 1960s.
Now, De Bruyne will also have his own statue to commemorate the great contribution he has made in the past decade, an honor that will be remembered forever.
