Foreign media: UEFA puts Slovakia on the European Cup Champions League list and awards the title of 1976
September 13 Foreign media TVnoviny reported that Slovakia was officially recognized as the European Football Championship champion, although it was decades late. UEFA finally included Slovakia on the European Championship (now the European Cup) list and awarded it the title of 1976. At that time, the Czechoslovak national team won the honor by defeating West Germany with the legendary penalty kick of Antonin Pa Nianka in the penalty shootout. Since 1993, this crown has only belonged to the Czech Republic. However, over three decades later, the Slovak flag also appeared on the European champions on the UEFA website. UEFA said the decision was reasonable because in the Belgrade match 49 years ago, Slovakians were also playing alongside Czech players. With the addition of Slovakia, the official European Cup champions' list has increased from ten to eleven.
