Montward High School, the second biggest winner outside Duke University!

Cooper Flag, Derek Quinn, Asa Newell and Liam McNeley all smiled and greeted each other with custom gestures, a scene that undoubtedly reminded them of their campus time at Montward (Florida) College. The four-player group made history in 2024, bringing a perfect end to the fantastic season with the Chipotle Nationals title. The Montward Eagles stand out with a record of 33 wins and 0, and can crush their opponents with a huge advantage of 34 points per game, firmly establishing their position in the discussion of "the greatest high school basketball team ever".

Montward High School is the second biggest winner after Duke University! Duke University Flag, Maruach and Kruper entered the top ten picks!

Former Montward coach Kevin Boyle, now head coach at Ohio SPIRE Academy, came to Brooklyn to support his former star and said their trajectory of achieving their dreams proved their selflessness.

This marks the second time that Boyle's Monteverde team has selected four players from the same team in the first round.

Cad Cunningham (No. 1 in the Detroit Pistons), Scottie Barnes (No. 4 in the Toronto Raptors), Moses Moody (No. 14 in the Golden State Warriors) and Daren Sharp (No. 29 in the Brooklyn Nets) are the first four-player combination to achieve this feat for Monteverde in 2021!

"I'm famous for being very harsh with players, but the reality is that I've never been harsh with these people. I don't have to do this. I'm firm, but they always go beyond work and focus."

Here's the Monteverde quartz selected in the first round of the 2025 NBA Draft.

Cooper Flag The number one player for the Dallas Mavericks

Before he became popular in college basketball, winning Player of the Year and leading the Dukes Blue Devils to the semifinals, Flag averaged 13.6 points, 6.5 rebounds, 3.4 assists, 1.6 steals and 2.5 blocks in two seasons at Monteverde.

Derek Quinn The No. 13 player for the New Orleans Pelicans

Quin contributed 14.4 points (66% per game) and 7.1 rebounds for the Hawks in Monteverde's final two seasons.

Asa Newell Atlanta Hawks No. 23

Newell was an opponent's nightmare at both ends, and averaged 9.1 points and 4.8 rebounds per game in two seasons with Monteverde. With his size and versatility, he dominated the Georgia Bulldogs game and won a spot on the SEC All-American freshman team.

Liam McNeley No. 29 to the Charlotte Hornets

McNeley is the Hawks' shooter, spending 44% of his three-pointers in Monteverde's two seasons, averaging 12.4 points, 3.9 rebounds and 2.6 assists per game. He scored high for the UConn Huskies on their way to the Greater East freshman of the year.
