Tottenham fans are unlikely to miss the championship parade when they return. A guy joked: I ll just immigrate to Spain.
May 23, The Sun reported that after Bilbao witnessed the team winning the UEFA Cup, Tottenham fans were in trouble with the return trip and may miss the championship parade. Many Tottenham fans chose to drive across the European continent by themselves, while others traveled multiple flights, and some even took a 32-hour ferry from Portsmouth. The journey is already a test of loyalty, and the return journey is also not easy. Bilbao's return flights are amazing, and some fans are forced to pay more than £1,000. The ticket price for the return trip the next day after the game was also high, with the afternoon flight to Stansted costing two friends £740 each, while the direct flight to Gatwick in the morning was close to £900. The high fees combined with limited international flights in Bilbao have many fans have to take a detour home. A Tottenham season ticket holder flew to Tenerife first and stayed for 20 hours before returning to Birmingham late on Friday. Father and son Neil and Leo from Hampshire booked a Portsmouth round-trip ferry in August and could only leave the Basque Country on Saturday. They just want to catch up on Sunday's home game against Brighton, when fans can celebrate their first trophy in 17 years. Ben from Essex didn't even consider returning. He joked: "I decided to move to Spain. Although the Immigration Bureau may be unhappy, I did not book a return ticket." His friend Paul was determined to rush back on Friday morning: "I took a 5-hour bus from Bilbao to Madrid, then transferred back to London via Rome, and stayed in Italy for one hour. I hope to arrive at Heathrow Airport at 11 pm on Thursday and participate in the parade in time." Zach and Taylor, who made a special trip to watch the ball from Florida, were destined to miss the parade. Zach's father is a Tottenham Hotspur fan and an American mother, said: "We couldn't find accommodation and transportation in Bilbao, so we could only fly to Madrid to rent a car and drive by ourselves, and finally spent the night in the rented truck." The friends are now heading to Budapest to enjoy a peaceful time. Zach admitted: "I do want to participate in the parade, but I didn't think so far at that time."
