Six months later! West Ham forward Antonio makes his debut after a car accident

June 17: West Ham forward Antonio made his debut after a car accident and made his appearance on behalf of Jamaica on Monday. Antonio came on as a substitute in the 85th minute but failed to help the team turn the defeat around. Jamaica lost 0-1 to Guatemala in the first group match of the Golden Cup.

Antonio's last official appearance was more than 6 months ago, on December 3 last year, West Ham's match against Leicester City. Four days later, he drove a vehicle and hit a tree in the Eping Forest and had a bicycle accident. He underwent surgery for lower limb injuries and recovered early after four and a half months of treatment at Central London Hospital, and initially his doctor told him that the recovery period would be up to 12 months.

Antonio's future at the London Stadium remains variable, and his contract will expire on June 30. The players' team has negotiated with the club's major shareholder David Sullivan and signing director Kyle McCauley, but has not reached a new contract agreement. The club said that due to its "special circumstances", it will not make formal decisions until "the time is right."

Antonio transferred from Nottingham Forest in 2015 and became the top scorer in the Premier League in 268 games with 68 goals. Jamaica will face Guadeloup on Friday and face Panama next week, striving to qualify from Group C of the Golden Cup.
