Official: Wrexham signs Manchester City defender Doyle, both sides sign for four years

Wrexham Football Club is very happy to announce that the team signed Callum Doyle from Manchester City. The transfer fee has not been disclosed. The transaction will take effect after the registration and international transfer license are completed. Doyle signed a four-year contract with the club until the end of the 2028-29 season.

The 21-year-old central defender won the 2022 UEFA U19 European Championship with England and scored a first-time goal in the final against Israel 3-1.

In the 2023-24 season, he played 23 games with Maresca coaching, helping the team win the English Championship.

Speaking of joining Wrexham, he said: "I am very excited to join the club. I have always hoped to complete a formal transfer and can't wait to start a new journey. I have been paying attention to the club's development trajectory from afar, and I am very excited to be a part of it."

Doyle comes from Manchester City's youth training, but has made more than 150 appearances in the Championship and League One. At the age of 17, he was loaned to Sunderland in the 2021-22 season, which was his first time being loaned out by Manchester City. He helped the team successfully advance to the English Championship that season. He made a total of 36 appearances for the "Black Cats" this season, including the League One promotion playoff final against Wacom.

In the summer of the same year, he continued his success and won the 2022 UEFA U19 European Championship with England in Slovakia.

The following season, he joined the English Championship on loan, made 43 appearances, and reached the final of the upgrade play-off with the team.

In the 2023-24 season, the optimistic rookie was rented to Leicester City. Although he was troubled by injuries during his time, he still contributed to the team's defense and helped "Fox City" eventually win the English Championship.
