Manchester United negotiates Hoylund s transfer terms, Amorin hints new players to take over
Benjamin Cesco's joining pushes Danish striker Rasmus Hoylund to the brink of departure. According to reliable sources, Manchester United negotiated with AC Milan on a loan deal on Hoylund, although the player himself is believed to still object to the transfer. Hoylund performed poorly in the 2024-25 season, with only 4 goals in 32 Premier League games. The problem is not that the 22-year-old hardworking forward missed the opportunity, but that he failed to get into the scoring area effectively. Among all the regular strikers in the Premier League last season, Hoylund averaged 1.4 shot attempts per game as the lowest. Manchester United's entire forward lacked enough threat last season, which prompted the club to introduce Brian Mbeumo and Mattus Cunia this summer, especially new center Benjamin Cesco, which has a direct impact on Hoylund's position. Although Hoylund repeatedly stressed his desire to stay in a competitive position in Old Trafford this summer, the club's attitude is clear. It is reported that Manchester United has agreed to loan Hoylund to AC Milan for the 2025-26 season. According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, the loan deal will bring Manchester United an initial fee of 6 million euros as the middlemen continue to communicate. The agreement also includes a selective buyout clause worth 45 million euros, higher than Manchester United's previous estimation for Hoylund. However, this amount is still much lower than the €85 million transfer fee paid by Manchester United to introduce him two years ago. The report pointed out that the transaction is temporarily hindered by Hoylund's willingness to "stand" to stay in the team. It is worth noting that after improving his performance in the pre-season warm-up match, Hoylund took the bench in Manchester United's last friendly match against Fiorentina last Saturday, with attacking midfielder Mason Mount accidentally replaced his starting center position. New aid Cesco made his official debut at Old Trafford Stadium just a few hours after officially announcing his joining. Manchester United coach Ruben Amorin praised the newly joined Slovenian striker Cesco and suggested he could prioritize Hoylund's chances in the Premier League opening match against Arsenal next weekend. Amorin said: "We have had difficulties in missing the fulcrum of the front line. Now we have a new player (Cesco). So let's see, there are still seven days left. We will work hard to determine the starting position against Arsenal." When Manchester United hosted Arsenal at home on August 17, it remains to be seen whether Hoylund is still a member of Manchester United.
