Barcelona is turning around: It will soon comply with La Liga financial regulations

La Liga president Javier Tebas confirmed that Barcelona is about to meet the league's salary cap regulations and also comply with the financial fair play rules, so that they can register new players without financial restrictions.

According to Daily Sports, Tebas confirmed to Barcelona chairman Laporta that based on the team's clearance and signing operations in the summer transfer window, the Catalan club will soon re-comply with La Liga financial requirements. This means they can spend on income or amounts of savings (the so-called 1:1 rule). By the end of June, Barcelona still needs to increase their income by about €30 million to meet the salary cap standard in La Liga.

For a long time, the Spanish top league has implemented a 1:1 rule, allowing clubs to spend accordingly based on their income level, provided that the total salary and transfer expenses do not exceed the approved salary cap. In special cases, the club can only exceed 60% of the limit for expenditure.

Due to repeated financial violations in history, Barcelona has been closely monitored by La Liga, as shown in the fact that it almost failed to successfully register Danny Ormo in January this year. According to The Athletic, Barcelona's problem is not the lack of funds to buy players, but the huge debt and high wage expenditure, which is expected to be about 223.8 million euros in the 2024/25 season.

To address these issues, Barcelona has taken several measures this summer, including a successful loan of Ansu Fati and an early termination of Clement Lenglet's contract and efforts to increase revenue. One important factor is the 100 million euro contract by renting 475 VIP seats at Camp Nou, a transaction that requires approval from auditors to be included in the financial report for the 2024/25 fiscal year.

This contract, along with other initiatives such as the virtual mobile network project Barca Mobile, is expected to help Barcelona return to the 1:1 rule standard, paving the way for the registration of two new players, Joan Garcia and Nico Williams.
