Auckland City acting coach: The result is obviously not what we want. We are proud of the players fighting spirit
June 16th, in the first round of the Club World Cup group stage, Auckland City defeated Bayern 0-10. After the game, Auckland City acting coach Ivan Vicelic accepted an interview with the media. Vicelic said: "We know this will be an extremely difficult game. Obviously we are facing one of the top teams in the world, so we are really proud of the players' fighting spirit." "This result is obviously not what we want, and the players are suffering in their hearts. But being able to sit here and be proud of them is the sports spirit we pursue." Vicelic revealed that he motivated the players to continue fighting during the break : "The players have completely accepted the challenge. For these amateur players, being able to compete at such a high level is a dream come true." In response to the outside world's doubts that the players are overly respecting their opponents, Vicelic responded: "We have discussed this issue and know that Bayern can show top-level standards against any team. We strive to do our best without the ball. What we need to do now is to restore our form, let the players learn from this experience, and regain morale in a few days."
